FAQs concerning the Integrated Transport System in Žilina region
How will be travelling on the line Žilina – Rajec influenced by the operation of IDS ŽSK?
The most important change will be that from 10 July 2022 it will no longer be possible to buy tickets from ticket vending machines at stations along the line. Passengers can choose whether to travel according to the ZSSK or IDS ŽSK tariff conditions. However, the self-dispatch system being introduced on the Žilina – Rajec line is still in operation, passengers are obliged to board the train with a pre-purchased ticket.
To purchase a ticket you can use following channels:
- E-shop zssk.sk,
- Mobile app IDeme vlakom,
- SMS ticket,
- Ticket desks of ZSSK anywhere in Slovakia (the nearest one is in Žilina),
- Train driver who can sell you the 24-hours ticket only for this line,
- Tickets of IDS ŽSK which can be purchased via sales-channels of the involved carriers (detailed info at www.idzk.sk).
Passengers eligible for Zero-Fare transport don’t need any ticket on the line from Žilina to Rajec with so-called self-dispatch system (SVS), they only have to show their card for Zero-Fare transport. However, if passenger needs to change from an SVS-line to a standard line without SVS, we recommend to collect your Zero-Fare ticket for the whole journey (including the part with SVS) viac E-Shop of ZSSK, mobile app or SMS. Otherwise, passengers will be considered not having valid ticket in the connecting train without SVS.
Passengers on trains of the Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko can choose:
- use tickets according to the current ZSSK tariffs, including one-way tickets, discounted fares with customer offers (e. g. KLASIK), free transport for selected groups or passes – just like in the whole of Slovakia. The mentioned ticket types are valid only on ZSSK trains.
- use integrated tickets, which are valid not only on participating ZSSK trains, but also on the lines of partner carriers.
